The Majority Agree: B.C. Needs a Strong Public Safety Plan

The provincial election is just weeks away, with advance voting beginning October 10 ahead of Election Day on October 19.

Public safety has emerged as a critical issue this election, and it’s essential that all political parties are committed to developing and delivering on a strong, comprehensive public safety plan that:

  1. Prioritizes smart solutions to reforming our bail system,
  2. Invests in the B.C. RCMP and other police services to keep pace with growth and the evolving nature of crime in communities, and
  3. Addresses the root causes of crime through investments in social supports and services.

Recent public opinion research by Pollara Strategic Insights revealed that the overwhelming majority—88%—of residents believe the government should have a comprehensive public safety plan. Now is your opportunity to have your say and tell election candidates that you are planning to vote with public safety in mind.

This recent research also showed that a two-thirds majority of residents want to see more investment in policing services and that overall, British Columbians are strongly supportive of their police, with 78% of respondents in RCMP-served communities satisfied or very satisfied with their policing services.

The upcoming election is your chance to vote for a safer B.C and you can ensure public safety and RCMP resourcing remain top priorities for candidates. Sign the Pledge to Vote today and make sure you’re prepared to cast your ballot during advance voting or on October 19.

Sincerely,
